About this blog

  Hi, I'm Ariane!

I'm just a 27 year old with CP (right side hemiplegic/affected) that loves to work out and exercise!

It took me so much courage to get up and give this exercise thing another shot, but here i am, and it's been worth it. Especially when i finally realised why exercise is more than just something you do to look good. What started off as just a simple stress reliever and physical therapy, progressed to weightloss journey and then i eventually realised the importance of exercise for my overall health and well-being. I started to push myself further and began to appreciate my achievements. Exercise and working out has become a part of who i am today and has helped me grow over the last year and a half in various ways.. and to say the least- will always be an ongoing journey.

Starting this 'Exercise with Cerebral Palsy' blog is a way for me to keep track with my personal fitness journey as a 27 year old with CP (cerebral palsy). The cute turtle crawling with a weight on her shell is my blogs mascot and my persona as i feel i identify to the tortoise who won the race in the 'Tortoise and Hare' tale.  Whilst engaging in exercise has been rewarding and enjoyable, It has also been a very slow process and journey for me."Perfecting" exercises have taken me longer and i  do a lot of modifications in my routines (It took me 2-3 months to be able to do a full push up ). However, as the story goes.. the tortoise took his time, persevered and successfully got to the finish line whilst going slow and steady! I may not progress as fast as others, but as much as i can, i try to trust the process even if i'm at a different pace. As long as i'm moving, i'm making progress towards my goal - to be strong, fit, healthy and a better version of myself.

NOTE: I am not an expert nor am i personal trainer or physio therapist.I'm just here to document and share. Evidently, this blog will be updated with posts on what i do for fitness and exercise. This includes documenting my workout routines/ideas. Most of which i've learned from a range of sources - My previous personal trainers, exercise physios, friends and other sources. I will also document sport events and movements that interest me and may participate in, Cerebral Palsy awareness and just blog about my overall fitness progress! However, other than just making mention of certain work outs and exercises, I also use this platform as a diary/log and give myself honest self- critiques to learn more about myself and my body and make room for improvement. After years of trial and error with trying to remain motivated, I know how annoying and frustrating it can be when your muscles don't always listen. In saying so, i'm also aware of what exercises are initially too difficult or can potentially create injury, hence why i modify some by teaching myself safer alternatives to increase effectiveness. If there's something i've learned.. It's to remind myself to never give up because slow progress is still always better than no progress..."Even if you are late to the (fitness and exercise) game."

Here, I share my journey. I once was someone who couldn't care less and took my body for granted and did 0 exercise.. but now, i am finding happiness, balance, peace and comfort embracing who i am engaging in a healthier and active way of living!
