No. no , I do not. Do i work out everyday ? No, I don't do that either.
To be honest, When i finally committed and took working out and exercising seriously and made active living a part of my lifestyle, For the first year and a half I was really strict on myself. I didn't torture myself but i found myself working out from 3 days a week , progressing to 4 and 5 and even 6 days on some weeks and was enjoying it! I would eat better and exercise as much as i could and as much as i wanted. I was happy, because i found what so many people found to be a chore, felt like i was doing a job (I wasn't being paid for obviously) that i loved to do everyday. Hence, ONE OF the reasons I started this blog.
I'm not saying that when i work out now, it's become a chore, but i do work out less now. I'm not saying that that i've stopped working out completely either... I guess i've become more easier on myself, and stopped being as strict. I still enjoy working out but now i have breaks in between days more than i used to. I have certain weeks where i'm on fire and i'm able to do more than 3 workouts that week, then there are other weeks where i only end up doing 3 days.. When i first noticed that change in my workout regime happening, i started to feel bad about about it because i thought i was losing my drive, my "mojo" or that i was getting too comfortable. Although, I do less now and it's not the same as before.. i realised it's not that i'm not losing drive, i probably AM less motivated more often these days but I DO get that motivation back whenever i work out again, but have i given up ? No, I have not because I still make sure active living is still a part of my life. I work out less, but i still make sure I fit in 3 work out days out of the 7 days of the week. (which is the average recommendation) and if i work out for more than those 3 days, then i'm even more proud, but if i stuff up one week, I try not to beat myself up over it anymore. I just start the new day/week. I think it's important to recognise that. It's important to recognise that you are doing better than everyone else who does nothing, that you are doing better than the person who is still making excuses for why they can't get up from their couch every once in awhile, it's important to recognise that you are beating the old you who used to be that person who used to make excuses... BUT it's important to recognise that you are not a robot either, you are human. You will live life with slip ups. Routines and schedules may change and that's okay as long as you keep at it, you'll be fine.
I think another reason why i've become less strict on myself is because i'm disciplined to make sure i fit it into my schedule regardless. I mentally tell myself "Gotta keep those muscles active"
Also, to make sure i don't let working out go completely, I mark the days i worked out, on my wall calendar with an [X] as a reminder.. it also helps with tracking. To me, sometimes that works better than a 'to-do' list. Personally, It feels good marking those [X]'s when you've completed a workout you decided to do on your own :)
