Most of our time is now spent at home more so than ever, it feels like the world is taking a break/holiday with everyone in iso. Everyone is dealing with the situation differently, but i feel like it's an opportunity to challenge and remind ourselves to get off our butts and keep on the active train. Thankfully, i am working from home at the moment and i'm actually finding i have more time and energy. While it's tough on some days because i miss going to restaurants and seeing my friends and extended family.
I've had more "me time" which means more exercise time, more time to be creative!
One day (5ish weeks ago) i came across an article that was all about the app/website centr. Chris Hemsworth (or some of you might know him as Thor 😜 ) was offering his new 6 week fitness program on the app FREE for 6 weeks! If you've follwowed me for awhile you know i've followed a few HIIT and circuit programs before. and whilst i still kept going with random workouts off YouTube / Instagram once i was done with following a few programs. 5ish weeks ago i realised it's been a long since i've invested time to follow a program properly.
Centr is a personalized digital health and fitness program curated by Chris Hemsworth consisting of his hand-picked team of internationally renowned experts. Accessible via iOS app, Apple Watch, Android and web, Centr offers daily workouts, meal plans, meditations and a 24/7 community offering support, extra tips and exclusive behind-the-scenes extras. At Centr’s core, we believe in training hard, eating right and living well – the three ingredients for a healthy, happy and well-balanced life.

I was hesitant at first, but something was telling me "do it, try it!.. it's FREE for 6 weeks and you have all the time right now!" So i downloaded and i am now half way through week 5/6 and am loving it, and i am doing the 6 week program coached, which is different for me! Usually i like to guide myself unless it's a bootcamp or a group. But, in this iso life i've been missing social interaction and more people outside my household, so i've been doing them coached! I didn't expect to like it as much as i am. I'm loving seeing updates on the facebook community group too!
Unfortunately, i didn't bother to take progress photos.. but i am feeling a difference and seeing a difference. It's like i am starting my journey all over again after feeling stuck or stagnant , maybe i missed the structure. Once i finish this, in 3 weeks, Centr is supposedly releasing another program and i can't wait. I am liking how progress is so easy to track on this app.
Whilst i haven't ventured on the app on other features other than the workouts and some articles. It's so easy to use and i think i should try out some of their meditations..
Would i recommend this program/app?
So far yes! with the coached workouts they show you variations of beginner, advanced and intermediate of each exercise. I am intermediate most of the time, but depending on the exercise sometimes i am beginner or advanced. I feel like the instructors are easy to follow. the only thing that got annoying sometimes was the choice of background music, haha. The exercise do repeat, but by the time it comes around you would feel like you're attempting the workout for the first time in awhile (well.. that's how i felt)
I found that it was a way to track on how you've improved at a workout, testing your strength and endurance.
I would say the 6 week program is fitting for people getting back into exercise and are with familiar with hiit and circuit training . Outside of this program within the app there are other workouts/activities. There's boxing, yoga, pilates ect! and you can pick if you wanted to do them on your own or coached.
The structure
- Workout 6 day week for 6 weeks.
- 6 6 6 - 6 rounds 6 sets 6 reps (at least 30secs each exercise)
- 40 sec rest in between each exercise
- Rest on the 7th day
Is the 6 week program CP hemiplegia recommended?
For me yes, I think anyone can do it. (if you're really unsure, contact your physio/doctor) I do think it's intense at first if you're not used to exercising. I RARELY had to modify any. I only had to modify 2. but like i would always recommend. You don't just have to go fast, you just have to go! While the 6 week program is timed (each exercise for 30 seconds) , if it's a struggle keeping up, there's always an option to do the self guided ones so you can go at your own pace.
This program gets your heart racing, but you're done before you know it. You really work up a sweat.
Let me know if there are any other programs or apps that's worth it, that i should check out or let know what are you all doing to stay active during quarantine/isolation/ iso! 😉
